     Isaac Gosden was born circa 1770.1 He married Sarah Saunders on 10 September 1792 at Chobham, Surrey, England.2 Isaac Gosden left a will on 10 February 1842; This is the last Will and Testament of me Isaac Gosden of the Parish of Bisley in the County of Surrey Farmer as follows (that is to say) I give and devise unto my Son Isaac Gosden and his heirs all those my copyhold pieces or parcels of land containing about nine acres situate lying and being within and held of the Manor of Bisley in the said county of Surrey and now in my own occupation To hold the same with the appurtenances unto my said Son Isaac Gosden his heirs and assigns for ever at the Will of the Lord and according to the custom of the said manor of Bisley subject nevertheless to the payment of the Mortgage debt or sum of One hundred and fifty pounds now due and owing from me to James Lipscomb on a mortgage thereof together with all interest which may be due thereon at my death and I direct that the said sum of one hundred and fifty pounds and interest shall be charged on my said Copyhold Estate exclusively and in exoneration of my personal and all other my Estates And also subject to and I do hereby charge the same with the payment of one annuity or clear yearly sum of Four pounds and ten shillings unto my Wife Sarah Gosden and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life by two equal half yearly payments the first payment thereof to commence and be made at the end of six calendar Months next after my decease and a proportionate part thereof to be paid up to the day of her death and I by the name of Drew England situate lying and being in the Parish of Chobham in the said county of Surrey and now in the occupation of my said Son William Gosden and James Gibbons to hold the same with the appurtenances unto my said Son William Gosden his heirs and assigns for ever subject nevertheless to and I do hereby charge the same with the payment of one annuity or clear yearly sum of four pounds unto my said Wife Sarah Gosden and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life by two equal half yearly payments the first payment thereof to commence and be made at the end of six calendar Months next after my decease and a proportionate part thereof to be paid up to the day of her death and I also give devise and bequeath the said annuity or yearly sum of four pounds unto my said Wife Sarah Gosden and her assigns accordingly I give and devise all that my Freehold messuage or Tenement Barn Garden and Orchard with about one acre and an half of Land and premises thereunto assigns Upon Trust that they the said Isaac Gosden and William Gosden and the survivor of them and the heirs and assigns of such survivor do and shall by and out of the rents and profits thereof or some part thereof raise the clear annual sum of six pounds for the life of my said Wife Sarah Gosden and do and shall pay the same unto unto my said Wife Sarah Gosden and her assigns during the term of her natural life by two equal half yearly payments the first payment thereof to commence and be made at the end of six calendar Months next after my decease and a proportionate part thereof to be paid up to the day of her death and subject to the said annuity and to the payment of all costs charges and expenses attending the raising and paying of the same Upon trust to pay the rents issues and profits thereof unto or permit the same to be received by my daughter Elizabeth the Wife of the said George Nokes and her assigns during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after her decease I declare that they the said Isaac Gosden and William Gosden and the Survivor of them and the heirs and assigns of such Survivor shall stand seized of the said hereditaments and premises subject nevertheless to the payment of the said annuity In trust for all and every the child and children of my said daughter Elizabeth Noakes who being a Son or Sons shall attain the age of twenty one years or being a daughter or daughters shall attain that age or marry their heirs or assigns for ever as Tenants in common and not as joint tenants if more than one and if there shall be but one such child then in trust for such one Child his or her heirs and assigns for ever and if there shall be no such Child then upon trust that they the said Isaac Gosden and William Gosden and the Survivor of them and the heirs and assigns of such Survivor do and shall stand possessed of the said Messuage or Tenement Barn Garden Orchard Land and premises with the appurtenances upon trust that they the said Isaac Gosden and William Gosden and the Survivor of them and the heirs and assigns of such Survivor shall and do as soon as conveniently may be after the decease of my said Daughter Elizabeth Nokes and failure of such issue as aforesaid sell and absolutely dispose of the same either together or in parcels and either by public sale or private contract as to them or him
shall sem best for the most money that can be reasonably obtained for the same And I do hereby declare that it shall be lawful for the said Isaac Gosden and William Gosden and the Survivor of them and the heirs and assigns of such Survivor on any such sale or sales to make any stipulations as to the title to be produced to the same or any part thereof and to buy in the same or any part thereof and to alter or rescind any contract for the sale thereof or any part thereof and to resell the same without being liable for any loss to be occasioned thereby And also do and shall make execute and prefest all necessary or proper Deeds Writings Contracts and assurances for the purpose of vesting the same in any purchase or purchases thereof or in such purchaser or purchasers thereof or in such person or persons as he she or they shall direct or appoint And I hereby declare and direct that the receipt or receipts of the said Isaac Gosden and William Gosden or of the Survivor of them or of the heirs and assigns of such Survivor shall be a good valid and sufficient acquittance and discharge or good valid and sufficient acquittances and discharges for all or any monies payable to them or him under the trusts of this my Will and that no Purchaser or Purchasers or other person or persons after obtaining such receipt or receipts shall be obliged to see to the application or be answerable for the misappliaction or nonapplication of such purchase money or any part thereof And I do hereby further will and direct that the said Isaac Gosden and William Gosden and the Survivor of them and the Executors and administrators of such Survivor do and shall stand possessed of and interested in the money to arise by such sale or Sales In trust to pay retain and divide the sameunto amongst and between my Sons James Gosden Isaac Gosden William Gosden John Gosden and Daniel Gosden their Executors Administrators and Assigns in equal shares and proportions as tenants in common I give and bequeath unto my said Wife Sarah Gosden the sum of twenty five pounds for her absolute use and benefit and I give and bequeath unto my said Wife Sarah Gosden the use and enjoyment of all my Household Goods and furniture Plate Linen and China which shall be in and about my dwellinghouse at the time of my death during the term of her natural life she signing an Inventory thereof to be deposited with my Executors hereinafter named and after her decease I direct the same to be disposed of as part of the residue of my Personal Estate I give and bequeath unto my Son James Gosden Two Cows one cart horse and ten Lamb ??? which are now or are about to be placed by me on the farm in my occupation called Frees and also all my hay or straw growing and other crops stock implements of husbandry and other effects of the like sort and kind which shall be in upon or about the said Farm called Frees situate in the said Parish of Chobham and which I now rent of Mr Henry Edmead to and for his absolute use and benefit I also give and bequeath unto my said Son James Gosden the sum of one hundred pounds for his absolute use and benefit and I direct the same to be paid him by my Executors hereinafter named within six months next after my decease I give and bequeath unto my said Son John Gosden all and singular my live and dead stock growing and other my Implements of husbandry and other effects of the like sort and kind being at my death in upon and about the farm in my occupation called Bullrouzen situate in the said Parishes of Bisley and Chobham and which I hold under Lease from Mr James Street to and for his absolute use and benefit I give and bequeath unto my said Son Daniel Gosden the sum of one hundred pounds now due from him to me together with all interest which at my death shall be due thereon for his absolute use and benefit subject nevertheless to and I do hereby charge the same with the payment of one annuity or clear yearly sum of five pounds unto my said Wife Sarah Gosden and her assigns during the term of her natural life by two equal half yearly payments the first payment thereof to commence and be made at the end of six calendar months next after my decease and a proportionate part thereof to be paid up to her death and I give and bequeath the said annuity or yearly sum of five pounds unto my said Wife Sarah Gosden and her assigns accordingly I give and bequeath all and singular the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or kind soever unto the said Isaac Gosden and William Gosden their executors administrators and assigns upon trust to convert into money the residue of my said personal estate or such parts thereof as shall not consist of money

Elizabeth Nokes their heirs Executors administrators and assigns in equal shares and proportions as tenants in common And I do hereby declare that the provision hereby made for my said Wife Sarah Gosden shall be by her taken in lieu and satisfaction of all dower and thirds at common law or by custom or otherwise which she might otherwise have claim or demand in or out of all or any of my Freehold or Copyhold hereditaments whatsoever of or to which I now am or may be seized or entitled and I direct that my said Wife shall upon the request and at the expense of the person requiring the same release all my Estates therefrom when thereunto required Provided always and I do hereby declare that if the Trustees hereby appointed or either of them or any future trustee of this my Will shall die or be desirous of being discharged from or refuse or become incapable to act in the trusts hereby created then and as often as the same shall happen it shall be lawful for the surviving or continuing trustees or trustee of this my Will or the Executors or Administrators of the last surviving or continuing Trustee by any writing or writings to appoint a new trustee or new trustees and that upon every such appointment all the trust premises shall be conveyed and assigned respectively in such manner as that the same may be vested in such new trustee or trustees solely or jointly with the surviving or continuing trustee And I hereby declare that the trustees or trustee for the time being under this my Will shall not be answerable the one for others or other of them and by no means for involuntary losses and that it shall be lawful for such trustees or trustee for the time being to reimburse themselves out of the monies which shall come to their hands by virtue of the trusts aforesaid all their costs and expenses in the execution of the said trusts And lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my said Sons Isaac Gosden and William Gosden Executors of this my will hereby revoking and making void all former and other Will and Wills by me at any time heretofore made and do declare this only to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have to each sheet of this my Will contained in five sheets of Paper subscribed my name this Tenth Day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty two Isaac Gosden Signed by the Testator Isaac Gosden in the presence of us present at the same time who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto set our names as witnesses thereto Swan Downer Dean clerk to Mr Mears Solr. Bagshot Surrey John Field Bisley Surrey Farmer.

This Will of Isaac Gosden late of the Parish of Bisley in the County of Surrey Farmer deceased was proved on the seventh day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty two before the Reverend Thomas Snell Clerk Surrogate of the Worshipful John Dr??er Bachelor of Law Commissary in and for the parts of Surrey lawfully constituted pending the annual visitation by the Oaths of Isaac Gosden and William Gosden the Sons of the deceased the Executors named in the said Will to whom administration was granted having been first sworn duly to administer.3



He died before 18 March 1842.4 He was buried on 18 March 1842 at St Lawrence, Chobham, Surrey, England.5

     Sigismund Schonstadt was born in 1832 at Stedebergen, Westphalia, Germany.3,4,5 He was the son of Alexander Schonstadt, born at Stradtberge in Westphalia, Germany (1795-30 November 1873).6


He married Henrietta Hannah Hamilberg Jones Levason, daughter of Dr Lewis Levason and Kate Jones, in 1856 at Seel Street Synagogue, Liverpool, Lancashire, England; and their marriage was recorded in the June quarter 1856 at Liverpool Registration district.1,2,7,8

Sigismund Schonstadt was thought to be in partnership as the following was listed in 'Slater's Directory of Gloucester, Hereford, Monmouth, Shropsire, North and South Wales, and a Classified Directory of the Town of Liverpool 1859' as:
