      Wilfred Lawrence Philbrook also went by the name of Bill Philbrook.2 He was born on 11 August 1916 at Shepherd's Bush, London, England; and his birth was recorded at Hammersmith Registration district in the September quarter 1916.1,3,4 He was the son of Thomas Philbrook and Winifred Lawrence.1 Wilfred Lawrence Philbrook was baptized on 25 August 1916 at St Saviour, Shepherd's Bush, London, England; and the family were of 102 Becklow Road with his father recorded as Soldier.5 He appeared on the census of 19 June 1921 at Steyning, Sussex, England, as born in Shepherd's Bush, England, in 1916.6 He married Marjorie Tilley on 15 October 1938 at Brighton, Sussex, England; and their marriage was recorded at Brighton Registration district in the December quarter 1938.
