      John Philbrick was also known as John Filbrook.3 He was also known as John Philbrook.4 He was baptized on 23 January 1803 at St Michael, Woodham Walter, Essex, England.4,1,5 He was the son of Spurgin John Philbrook and Martha Cole.2 John Philbrick married Ann Glasscock on 20 September 1823 at All Saints, Purleigh, Essex, England; and he was a bachelor of Woodham Walter and she was a spinster of the parish. Their witnesses were Elizabeth Philbrook and Egerton Guttres. They were married by Banns with the consent of parents; Bride, groom and both witnesses signed x.6,7 John Philbrick appeared on the census of 6 June 1841 at Walter Dell, Woodham Walter, Essex, England, as age 37, born in the county and he was an 'Ag. Lab.8' He may have been the John Philbrook recorded in the Criminal Register age 42, tried at the County Assizes in Essex for Larceny and found Not Guilty on 4 March 1844.9 He appeared on the census of 30 March 1851 at Woodham Walter, Essex, England, as Head, married, age 49, birthplace Woodham Walter, Essex, and he was an 'Ag. Lab.10' He appeared on the census of 2 April 1871 at High Street, Rayleigh, Essex, England, as Boarder with Ann Dale, widower, age 71, birthplace Woodham Walter, Essex, and his occupation was given as Ag. Lab.3 He appeared on the census of 3 April 1881 at Salt Row, Rayleigh, Essex, England, as Boarder with Ann Dale, widow, age 73, birthplace Woodham, Essex.11 He died on 6 August 1885 at Rochford Union Workhouse, Rochford, Essex, England, at age 82; and his death was recorded at Rochford Registration district in the September quarter 1885.12,13
