(There is a family story about one son, named Robert who became a violin player with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra., however upon verifying the 1841 Scottish census and the 1851 Canada censes no record of such a person exits )
The only recorded son James ( Jimmy) Anderson, who was
born in Scotland, was involved in mixed farming in the St.
Etienne area, then he moved his family to Howick . His wife Helen Loynachan was a schoolteacher prior to
their marriage. Helen was born in Beech Ridge, Argenteuil Co, Que (Just a bit below Lachute) .
The son of Jimmy and Helen , Jamie was a
mechanic, he owned a garage in Lachute,Quebec, where it is said
he constructed the very first mobile home ,
an ice fishing shack modified and mounted on a
truck chassis so that he and his companions could move about easily
when the ice fishing season began. A portable house on a truck frame is
exactly what we call a mobile home in this age (1990). Jamie was
invited to come to St. Lambert Quebec, to help his nephew Murray Macfie
build a home on Curzon St., as they were building this particular home,
his son Hillard (Hiddy) decided that he also was in the market for a
home, so Jamie worked on both homes. It is said that
Murray 's home
on Curzon St. was constructed with half the necessary building
products, and that Hillard's was constructed with the other half.
This was just after the Second World War, the manufactures of steel
products were just winding down their military operations
and returning to their main products lines. Often Murray and Jamie
would have to travel far and wide to locate the necessary building
material as it became readily available at the different manufacturers.
They often had to purchase what products were available as they came
of the production line, and the first two houses were put together with
odd sizes of wood and nails, as either not enough material could be
bought at one time, or the product available was not quite the right
type
needed to do the work. The houses however had to be built and they
were.
Murray sold his house to his brother Arthur in 1961 and he in turn
after
having to put many expensive repairs in to the house sold it to a third
party in 1985. Hillard just sold his Curzon Street house lately and
moved out west near his son Watson
Jamie having gotten the knack of house building (just at the right time as St. Lambert was a booming little bedroom community, growing by leaps and bounds) began a home building career. His son Donald just lately sold the home Jamie built for himself and his wife, Jessie Stewart, in the early 1950's on Logan St. in St. Lambert. You can still walk around St. Lambert Quebec and notice the houses that Jamie built, they all have the same square type construction.
Jimmy and Helen's daughter Nina Virginia married Robin Macfie. Robin
Eric their
third child moved out the the Canadian west as many young men were
doing at one time, seeking their fortune in the adventurous newly
opened farming land. About 1910 we find Eric at Grande Prairie,
a homesteader, who also hauled freight by horse and sled from Edson
to Peace River. He farmed the area in Tofiled and was also handy
as at blacksmithing. Eric was an avid fiddle player, for that matter ,
Eric could play any musical instrument that he put his mind to.
Eva Anderson,
married businessman John Hill, who imported toys and models under the
name of Bordfelt Toys Ltd. They lived in a large house in the Toronto
district.
Neil Anderson , was
an accountant, he married Flora Thompson who died in 1968. Neil had
been gassed in the first World War. They had no children, they
lived in St. Lambert Quebec, near the Montreal Golf Club. Neil died
in Florida.
Muriel Anderson the last child born was a professional soloist in her youth. She married first a druggist Charles Wilson, and then William B McCool, a newspaperman.
Muriel spent her live in Montreal, Toronto, Daytona and finally resided in Victoria at the time of her death. There was no issue from either marriage.

At this point in time we see indication that Mary is listed as a widow, and we have a William Duff as a child of three leaving one to believe that Mary had married perhaps a Duff, who had died shortly after the birth of a son

In 1891 during the Census taking period the Anderson's received a visitor by the name of George, now whether this was a George Anderson as shown it is not known but it is believed the person's correct name should be George Mitchell nephew to John, first cousin to James, A George Mitchel can be found listed on the 1851 Canada census living on the neigbouring property to John Anderson and his family

The 1911 Census was executed by a French speaking person, and as happened when an English speaking person took the names and information in a French family more often than not mistakes were made in the understanding, the spelling and interpretation of the information collected . In this instant Anderson was written incorrectly , Neil was listed incorrectly as female and as a daughter , every one in the family was listed as being born in Quebec, when in fact John the father, James the head , were born in Scotland . The fact that Lorge, who is assumed to be George Duff is listed as a domestic at age 80 is odd, as I doubt a male servant would be that age, George is either a boarder or visitor at this time left to be decided.

Donald on the other had has a household of four two males and two females
It is also to be noticed that one John Dougall is a close neighbour, this family perhaps being related to Donald's wife Margaret Dougall
The 1851 Canada Census show that Donald's mother Christain 75 years of ages in living with them with no other mention of Neil who may have died by this time
The 1861 Census has Donald listed as Daniel
On the 1871 Census we see Marion Dougall a widow of 81 living with the family , whether or not Marion had come from Scotland to stay with the family or if she was associated with the Dougall family indicated on the 1841 census is left to question
