The Late Miss Nellie Tasker :The quite little village of Clarenceville has once more been called upon to mourn the loss od one of its young people in the person of the late Nellie M Tasker, who died on June 12th after a severe illness of over twelve week's duration, which she bore with Christian fortitude and resignation. The ravages of death are always deplored and the loss of the departed keenly felt by the relatives and friends, but more specially is this so when his icy finger is laid upon one in the flower of youth, the joy of parents and friends, and giving promise of a bright and prosperous career.Miss Tasker was a universal favorite, guided by strong Christian principles, from which she never swerved, he influence over her companions can be estimated ; possessed of a mild and gentle temperament, which was seldom ruffled by any circumstance in home, school, or social life, she won the admiration and love alike of young and old. At school sh proved herself to be a girl of more than ordinary ability, promise, and diligent application to work, and was ambitious of making the most of the talents God had given her. She was always courteous to her teachers and kind to her fellow pupils by whom she is much lamented. She passed the A.A. examination here in the spring of '98 and had all preparation made to enter the McGill Normal School in the coming autumn, to prepare herself for teaching, for which profession she seemed to be naturally gifted. The funeral took place Wednesday, the 14th at 2:30 p.m. The Rev Wm Howitt pastor of the Methodist church, of which she was a member, preached a grand and touching sermon to a very large congegration , after which the remains were followed to the cemetery by a large number of sorrowing friends. We offer our heartfelt sympathy and condolence to the bereaved family in this their hour of trail and although we know that we cannot lighten the burden nor lift the dark cloud that has fallen upon them, yet , if human sympathy can avail, we beg them to accept ours.

At five o'clock Wednesday afternoon Jan 27 at the home of Mr and Mrs Hiram Bush in Burke, occurred the marriage of their daughter Miss Anna Maria Bush to Mr Millar Johnston. Rev W H Miller preforming the ceremony. Both of these young people are life long residents of Burke and hold in a remarkable degree the respect and affection of the community. The bride is an accomplished, graceful young lady and a great favorite with her companions. The groom is a son of Robert Johnston one of the proprietors of the Chateauguay Pulp Co. and is a prosperous young farmer with a lot of friends. It would seem that the vista of life opens fair and enchantingly before this happy young couple and may no unseen shadows arise to darken its brightness. Mr and Mrs Johnston will spend a portion of their honeymoon in Montreal. They have the heartiest of congratulations and good wishes of scores of friends, to which THE RECORD adds it own , no less sincere and true
