Michel left Saintonge and arrived in Quebec on 20 Aug. 1657. On 25 Jan. 1660 he was offered a lease in St. Michel, near the Seigneurie of Sillery, by Charles Legardeur for 5 years. On 13 Dec. 1661 he accepted another lease for 3 years from Nicolas Huot dit St. Laurent. On 25 oct. 1662 Michel purchased an arpent and a half at Beauport and at the home of notary Guillaume Audouart de Saint Germain he and Marie concluded their marriage contract on 21 Nov. the same year.
On 13 Mar. 1664 Michel received a grant from Charles Augert de la Chesnaye, Seigneur de la cote de Beaupre. The census of 1667 shows that the Bouchards were living at Ste. Anne du Petit Cap, the future St. Joachim. Michel was 28 and Marie 22 and they had two argents under cultivation.
Michel and Marie evidently moved to the heart of the village of Ste. Anne where they evidently had some fraudulent dealings with the Indians from Monts Peles, near Tadoussac concerning trading in beaver skins.
In 1673 Michel moved to the seigneurie of Beauport and in 1681 we find he and Marie and their seven children in the census at the Bouteillerie, Quebec.
In Oct. 1690 we find Michel and his son Pierre and his son-in-law Pierre Dancause as part of the militia fighting off the invasion by General Phipps.
By 1692 Michel moved to Quebec where he died in 1709 and is buried in the cemetery of l'Hopital Hotel Dieu de Quebec.
