S.T. Shannon of Saco, trader sold to Stephen Fletcher of Saco, fisherman for $25.00 one-quarter acre of land with the buildings on the road leading to the beach 8 Oct. 1838.(1)
On 24 Sept. 1855 Stephen bought 10 acres on Ferry Road in Saco from John H. Gowen of Saco. The deed was signed by John and Betsy Gowen and witnessed by Obadiah Durgin and Lucy B. Gowen.(2)
Stephen was listed in the 1840, 1850, 1860 and 1870 census reports for Saco along with his family. His occupation was given as laborer. Stephen was listed in the 1870 directory for Biddeford and Saco as living on 100 Ferry Road.(4) Stephen and Lucy were also listed in the 1880 census and his occupation was a clam digger. Their son Abiathe was also living with them.

Josiah was listed in the 1860 census and was married in that year and must have died shortly afterwards as Mary married Amassa in 1861. Amassa, Mary and Ella are listed in the 1870 census for Saco and Amassa and Mary are in the 1880 census. She must have died prior to the 1900 census as Amassa was a border at a rooming house in Saco.Issue-
