FOSTER, COLENSO, DRUMMOND,
LEEMAN and USSHER.

My name is Amanda Doyle

I was born in Bridgend (Pen-y-Bont ar Ogwr) but now live in Birmingham UK

I have a B.A. in Psychology and Music and I was a teacher of music and drama (1977 - 1999)

I am a 'merry widow' and I have a fantastic daughter who loves singing

No prizes at all for guessing my favourite colour

History through genealogy - or is it genealogy through history?

Varied and many styles of music - but Jazz is a real favourite.

The musical 'Les Miserables' is absolutely fantastic.

Travel - I love the island of Mallorca - and the city of Venice -

Israel was a very special place to visit -

and I go to Tenerife as often as I can

In the process of constructing this site (which is still very much work in progress), I realised that it would be difficult for any viewer (including myself) to have a sense of which generation family members belonged.
On the left I have listed a colour for each generation. Time will tell if this is useful or not.

All this time I thought I was Welsh pretty much all the way through with a sprinkling of Geordie. Now I find part of me heralds from the far west of Cornwall through the Colenso lines.

I have traced my earliest Foster to Cardiff (Still Welsh!) but I have no idea of his parentage as yet.

The Leeman name I know has roots in northern Europe - from Switzerland up to Sweden. I have not gone back very far and I am still in Yorkshire.

The Drummond name is most definitely from Scotland. However, I am still in Stockton - but with new links to Newport!

So where does that leave me? Most definitely Celtic with a pride of Wales.

Definitely European - I have no real desire to travel 'long haul'. There are still areas of this country that I need to visit genealogically and for personal interest.

In the meantime, there are places to visit on this site too.
Enjoy your time here and let me know what you think!

So much of the information included on this website (and more besides) is the result of years of research conducted by a number of people who are willing to share knowledge, theories and ideas. I am eternally grateful to those who have helped me in my quest to find out 'who I am', and also to those who have shared their own stories and trusted me to publish them online.

I am indebted to the following people.

Ruthie McLennan (New Zealand)
