I have very little information the Ourada side of my family and all of my fathers family has passed on so I am very limited on resources but would like to research into the Ourada Family.
To answer your questions: My Fathers full name was Thomas Ourada,(no middle name) born April 27, 1899 in Omaha, Nebraska. My Mother was Catherine (Thacker) Ourada (she also had no middle name) born September 24, 1904 in Chicago Ill. My grandparents were Thomas P. Ourada, I have no birthdate, I was told he was born in Bohemia. My grandmother was Marie, and as I said when I as a child asked what her maiden name was some one, I think my aunt, said "Coufal", in a way seeming to question why I didn't know that since I had met Ruth Coufal. Therefore I always assumed that was our connection to Coufals (through my grandmothers family, not the Ourada family, that is why I am confused. I was told that Marie was also born in Bohemia. I never knew my grandfather as he died when I was a baby. I did know my grandmother as she lived until I was twelve, but she spoke very little English. Thomas and Marie had seven children, Godfrey (who we called Uncle Bill, and did not dare call Godfrey, as he didn't like his name), Thomas, who was my father, Bess, Edward, Frank, Rudolph, and Vlasta. I do not know the date Thomas and Marie were married, but it was in Omaha. I have a copy of their wedding picture which I will attach. I am 66 years old, and the sixth of eight children of Thomas & Catherine Ourada of Omaha. I have four living brothers ( the eldest Thomas C. Ourada passed on) and two sisters. sent by Lois Lahowetz
For my grandmothers maiden name to have been Coufal she would had to have been related to Joseph. And Ann Would have to been related to my grandfather Thomas P. So it would be an Ourada brother and sister married to a Coufal brother and sister, or cousin ect. Although I don't remember hearing anything like that, it has happened in my own family when my sister & brother married uncle and niece. I am trying to recall who told me my grandmothers name was Coufal and I really think it was one of her daughters.
Yesterday I stopped at the cemetery where most of the Ouradas are buried.
(at least those in my fathers family) Graceland park cemetery at 42nd. & L Sts. in Omaha.-I checked out the stomes on my grandparents grave they showed that Thomas P. was born in 1870 and died in 1936. "His Wife Marie" 1873-1948. It did not show her maiden name.
I do not know who my grandfathers (Thomas P.) brothers and sisters were. I do know that my father had a cousin Sam who was a plumer here in Omaha. I met Sam and his wife Georgina when I was a child they were the only cousins I remember of my fathers at that time. I did also meet a John Ourada later when I was working in a local store, and believe he was Sam's brother. There a quite a few Ourada's on that side now living in Omaha, and an Ourada Plumbling Company, but I am not aquainted with them. I have no knowledge of
Tomans. Lois Lahowetz
Here's another fact. My Grandfather I am told was ex-communicated from the Catholic church because he married a Protestant. My father and his brothers and sisters attended a very small Presbyterian church "Bethlehem Pres." in South Omaha. (I did go there as a child, and my brother Tom was married there, but it no longer exists, the last time I was in the area , a few years ago, ( it was an antique shop) The neighborhood they lived in called "Brown Park" was heavily catholic and my talked of being singled out because they were protestant.
