Clarinda R. Church was born in Livingston Co., New York on the 20th day of July, 1838. In 1845 her parents moved to McHenry County, Illinois, near Chrystal Lake where she was married to Mr. John D. Smith in her 17th year. They resided in McHenry County till the fall of '68, when they moved to Anagomia (sp/ hard to read), An_____s County, Missouri, when they resided till the spring of 1870. Since that date they have lived in Doniphan County (Kansas). Mrs. Smith died at her home on the farm where she and her husband have resided about 13 years at half past 7 o'clock, Wednesday, August 5, 1891. Her remains were interred in Highland cemetery, the next afternoon, Rev. Bitner officiating. She was a woman of firm conviction, industrious, courteous and poss........ and admired disposition. She was well known thorughout the country, and it is needless for us to say more, or even what we have relative to her character. The life was full of traits that _________, for all of us to follow. The fact that her husband testifies that there was for __ other was infinately greater than at any time in former years of their married life, is sufficient evidence of her amiability and usefulness in domestic and social circles.
