Redmond Gunning and Rebecca Hutton
were my 4th great grandparents. No record of their marriage has
been found. but it is believed that they were married in Dublin in a
Catholic Church. Redmond was a Catholic and Rebecca was a Protestant.
All their children were baptised in the Catholic Church.
Rebecca Hutton was born on the 4th April 1752, daughter of John and Elizabeth Hutton. Redmond was probably born about 1750. They were married before 1781 when Peter was born. As Rebecca would have been 29 years old in 1781 it is likely that they were married earlier than 1781 and had other children before Peter. However, there are no records to confirm that supposition. There were also large gaps between the baptisms of John (1786) and Eleanor (1779) and then Mary (1792) that it is possible that other baptismal records are missing and there were more than 5 children.

In the Dublin Parish Registers there is the baptism of Mary Anne Rourke on 14 June 1820. Sponsors are John Gunning and Mary Maddock. As Mary Maddock was Mary Gunning this is possibly Henry Hutton Maddock’s mother (Mary) and his uncle (John).
HUTTONS IN DUBLIN
Known children of John and Elizabeth Hutton, Parish of St John’s (Cof I):
Rebecca was born in 1752 and is believed to be the first child of John and Elizabeth Hutton. Her parents were probably married in 1750/51. An estimate of their birth year(s) would be about 1725-1730. No record of the birth of John Hutton in the Dublin Parish Registers in those years has been found.
In the Registry of Deeds there are multiple memorials witnessed by a John Hutton of Dublin starting in 1744. In several memorials he is identified as the clerk to Robert Stafford, Notary Public and in others as "gent". These entries for John Hutton as a witness cease in the 1760s. I have no evidence that this is the same John Hutton but it is possible.
In the Dublin Church records there is a death recorded of a John Hutton in August 1779, Burial at the Parish Church of St John. I have no confirmation that this is the same John Hutton
