The certificates following show the progress of the career of George Frederick Maddock in the Merchant Navy, from 1888 up to 1918.

1893 GFM gives his address as 3 Berkeley St., Douglas, Isle of Man. He was 19 years old when he applied for certification as a second mate. The second part of the form (page 3) shows that he already had four years and eight months experience at sea as an apprentice, starting in 1888 at the age of 14.
