Charles Bernard of Laois (Queen’s Co) was the eldest son of Thomas and Deborah Bernard. He was born about 1688 and died in 1728. There is a record of a Charles Bernard, marrying Rachel Stringer, of Chester in England 12th December 1711.

"12 Dec Charles Bernard, p. of Nurney, co. Catherlow in Ireland, gent. and Rachel Stringer, p. of Nantwich, co. Chester,"

In 1718 Charles Bernard was the high Sheriff of Co. Carlow.  He later established his home in Bernard’s Grove (now Blandsfort), Laois (Queen's Co.). Will dated 1728 (7) . Thomas Piggott was an executor.  He had at least six children who were mentioned in that Deed, (probably in birth order)
