Participant InformationCurrently, 177 kits have been ordered, with 160 returned to FTDNA. All available Y-DNA results are posted below in a blind manner protecting the privacy of the testees. One individual ordered 5 kits, and has taken at least one of the kits to Ireland testing there a Marshall male centurion that may be connected to a Marshall line that came to the US many years ago. The results of the 100 year old Irishman are posted below as Testee 14200, Family Group 29. Those male Marshall's who suspect your ancestors came from Ireland may want to become a testee to see if they match this Marshall currently living in Ireland. Another individual has ordered five kits to help solve an question that has been around for many years in his family. The results of this study is presented as Family 03 below. For those interested in father/son testing, we now have two sets of father/son results available. The first set is Testees 8494 and 8592, Family Group 04 and the second is Testees 14197 and 14198, Family Group 02. For those interested in the test results of cousins, we have five testees who are fourth cousins with results posted below, Testees 8993, 17042, 17045, 17046, and18528. We also have two that are sixth cousins, Testees 17798 and 27215, Family 03. All are members of Family Group 03. The surname project is gaining an international flavor with the addition of a testee from The Netherlands as Testee 23934. This now gives us three countries participating. It would also be great if a male could be identified that shared a common male ancestor with William Marshall, Earl of Pembroke. William's son have no known male descendants, so we are looking for someone descending from a brother, uncle or great uncle. Any other Marshall family with well documented very early US lineages are encouraged to select at least one testee to assist in further documenting the Marshall family in America. Several testees have not provided their direct male Marshall ancestors for posting to the Oldest Ancestors page. Each testee that has not provided this data is encouraged to do so, as it adds value to the project helping make connections that otherwise would not be possible. Well we have our first 11 of 12 marker match without a paper trail connecting to two testees. The two testees are Testees 13522 and 14199, Family Group 6. It is hoped the two testees with communicate and maybe learn of a possible connection. If so it will be the first connection assisted via this project - one of its true goals! Most of the Family Groups are hot linked (Hyperlinked) to the their Oldest Ancestors on that page.
