Thursday Febreary 21, 1884
Mrs. Cynthia de Gruyter, wife of Conner(sic) de Gruyter, died Tuesday February 19 at 5 o'clock p.m. at her home in Covington, Kentucky. Mrs. de Gruyter had been an invalid for twelve years. She was a sister of Mrs. M. F. de Gruyter of this city, and well known in the Kanawha Valley. Her demise is sincerely mourned by her many friends.

The death of Hamilton Crockett occured at his home, two miles above the city on the Kanawha yesterday morning. Deceased was seventy two years of age and born and raised in this county. He was a man esteemed by all, not having an enemy. He was a brother of Capt. John Crockett of this city. The remains will be interred at Brownstown this afternoon at 4 o'clock.
