VA : 1 male 26-45 (Aaron); 1 female 26-45 (first wife Frances Hadlin); 1 male 16-26 (presumably Reuben Kelly, a brother or ?); 1 female 16-26 (presumably Reuben's wife, Charity (Martin) Kelly, married 20 Feb 1810, but not listed as a head of household on the July 1, 1810 census date); and 3 children: 1 male 0-10(Jesse) and 2 females 0-10 (Sarah and Mary).

1820 Census for Kanawha Co. VA: 1 Male 45+ (Aaron); 1 female 26-45 (second wife, Kessiah Smith, married in 1812); 1 female 16-26 (Luvinia Wilkinson, her daughter?), the three children from the first marriage: 1 male 10-16 (Jesse) and 2 females 10-16 (Sarah and Mary), and 4 younger children: 3 males 0-10 (John, Hiram,and William) and 1 female 0-10 (Frances).

1830 Census for Kanawha Co. VA: 1 male 50-60 (Aaron); 1 female 50-60 (Kessiah); 2 males 15-20 (John and William), 1 male 10-15 (Hiram), 1 female 10-15 (Frances), and 1 female 5-10 (Lucinda).

1840 Census for Kanawha Co. VA: 1 male 60-70 (Aaron) and 1 female 60-70 (Kessiah). (All their children are now married.)

1850 Census for Kanawha Co. VA: Aaron, 74, and Kessiah, 71.

1860: Could Not Locate. (Aaron's will entered for probate in Feb.1855.)

1870 Census for Kanawha Co. WV: Living with (son) John Kelly: Keziah Kelly, 92!

Per Laidley, Aaron and Moses Kelly were among the first settlers of the Sissonville area, arriving around 1800 and both marrying in Kanawha Co. (Presumably they were brothers.)

Have a copy of Moses' will: lists only one son, Robert, plus 2 daughters (see notes for Moses Kelly).

Last Will and Testement of Aaron Kelly

In the name of God Amen,

I, Aaron Kelly of the County of Kanawha in the State of Virginia, being feeble of body but sound of mind and memory as usual, and knowing the uncertainty of life, do desire to make some distribution of my temporal effects, do by these present make this my last will and testement hereby revoking all former wills.

First...As to my real estate, Having this day conveyed by Deeds Severally and jointly, duly acknowledge by making such assigns on the face of each as I desire... and the reserve of the dower of my beloved wife Kiziah, on all the said deeds of land... namely... First I have conveyed by deed as aforesaid to my two Daughters Sarah Arthur and Mary Slater jointly two Entities, one of 60 and the other of 75 acres of land being all I intend... Bequeath them.

Second... I have conveyed to my son Hyram (sic) a lot of 150 acres by deed position taken off the lower end of a 500 acre survey bought of John L. Thomas being all I intend to bequeath to him.

Third... I have conveyed by deed to my son John Kelly a lot of land suppose to contain 125 acres of land, lying above Hyram's being all I intend to bequeath him.

Fourth... I have conveyed by deed to my son William a lot of land supposed to contain 125 acres of land, lying adjoining John's lot on the afar side which is all I intend to bequeath him.

Fifth..... I have conveyed by deed to my son Jesse, my daughter Frances Thomas, and the 2 minor children of deceased daughter Lucinda Goff jointly a lot of land suppose to contain 100 acres lying on the upper end of said 500 acres survey, which lot of 100 acres all that I intend to bequeath to them... being all the real estate I possess.

Item the sixth...I give and bequeath at my death unto my beloved wife Kiziah all my personal property whatsoever to be disposed of by her in such a manner as she may desire.

In testimony wherefore I hereunto set my name and affix my seal this 24th day of December in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and Fifty Four.

The 1880 census states that James Marion McCormick was living with Jesse Kelly, his grandfather. In 1860 census the Kelly family is listed next to the James Madison McCormick family.

The connection between Lucinda Kelly Goff and Jesse is through the 1860 census records which show that the Lucinda's children are living with Jesse after her death. Note: Lucinda is Jesse's 1/2 sister per their father's will.
