According to Bertha McCormick in 1954 Melissa Humphrey's mother's name was Adeline Crag. However, no confirmation of this fact can be established. In 1860 census for Kanawha County (WV) page 148 his wife was listed as Nancy. In the 1880 census no wife listed for Lewis. Also in the 1880 census a person by the name of Adaline Craigg is listed as mother-in-law to and living with Edward Stone.

General Notes for Child William Willard McCormick
"The McCormick and Kelley were neighbors on Lick Branch and the children grew up together. Grandpa McCormick had a strained relationship with his daughter-in-law, my mother Pearl. It seem that she had gotten pregnant and Will was the father. Then Will find out he went to Ohio to live with his uncles, Will and Jim Kelley. After I was born in March, my father return to West Virginia and married my mother in August. My parents had a total of fourteen children. My father attended his father funeral and unbeknown to him he had carried whooping cough back to his children. Lennie, Denver and I contracted the disease. However, only I survived.
Grandpa McCormick and Grandpa Kelley both fought in the Civil War. Grandpa McCormick fought for the South while Grandpa Kelley fought for the North. After they died Grandma Kelley got a pension but Grandma McCormick did not. This cause caused some hard feeling between them."
