Eli Jarrett, at the Age of 87 Years Passes Away
In the death of Eli Jarrett which occurred Tuesday night about 10 o'clock at his home at Jarrett's Ford, Kanawha county loses one of it's most distinguished and most highly respected pioneer citizens.
Mr. Jarrett had reached the ripe age of 87 years and had lived at the place at which he died for 77 years, having located there with his parents in 1818. His wife Nancy E., who is now 85 years old survives him. They were blessed with eleven children, eight of whom, James C., John T., Squire B., Mark S., Eli T., Elizabeth Depew, Caroline Price, and Catherine survive their father.
Their other descendents consist of sixty grand children, among whom are E. T. Jarrett Jr., and Mrs. J. H. Copenhaver; seventy four great grand children and three great great grandchildren.
The funeral will take place today at 10 O'Clock and the interment will be in the old Jarrett family burial ground at Jarrett's Ford. Undertaker Barlow will have charge of the funeral.
