Thursday April 27, 1882
Yesterday we mentioned the fact that Miss Jenkins, of Blue Creek, fell dead as was supposed, and today we learn that she was dressed on Monday, the day she was supposed to have died, in her burial attire, and after due time, her body was taken to the church for the purpose of holding burial services over it. When the services were over the coffin lid was removed, and it was noticed that her face showed her natural color, the same as life. This aroused her friends and they took the body home, where it still remains. At times her limbs are very stiff and at other times the joints are very supple. The body will be kept several days as there are signs of life.

Saturday April 22, 1882
Miss Dora Jenkins, of Kanawha Two Mile, died suddenly of heart disease on Monday eveninig, 10th, aged eighteen years. While we are compelled to submit to the icy hand of death, we are consoled by the evidence left behind, that she has gone to rest. A few months previous to her death, she professed religion, and we have every reason to believe she walked in accordance with the approbation of her Redeemer, until death, and has now gone to reap her reward.
The funeral was preached on Wednesday by Rev. C. C. Watts, of M. E. Church South, which was largely attended by the deceased's many relatives and friends. Her remains were not interred until Friday, as no indication of decomposition took place until that time.
