Died on Thursday the 10th instant, at his residence in the county, Mr. William S. Summers, aged 37 years.

The Charleston Leader
Thursday October 4, 1883

Mrs. Sydney Summers in the 85th year of her age died at her residence on the corner of Virginia and Broad Streets on Saturday afternoon.
Funeral services were held at the residence on Sunday last, the Rev. J. C. Barr, of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating, and the remains were taken on the steamer Sallie Freeze on Monday morning to Walnut Grove, Putnam County, for intermant at the old homestead.

Wednesday, October 31, 1894

Yesterday a telegram was received here bearing the sad intelligence that William S. Summers, of this city, had dropped dead in Cleveland, Ohio, the same morning of apolexy. He was nearly sixty years of age last August. He was a member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church. As a Mason, he had reached the top round of the latter. When he died he was past Master of Kanawha Lodge No. 20 of which he was past commander. He was as exconfererate and commander of Camp Stonewall Jackson. (Edited.)

Putnam County Will of Thos. Supple

In the name of God Amen. I Thomas Supple Sr. of Putnam County Virginia being of sound and disposing mind, of body do make this my last will and testament, as follows: (that is to say) I desire that my body be buried at the direction of my executor hereinafter mentioned, so that my soul may return to God who gave it; 1st I direct that all of my just debts be paid out of my estate as soon after my decease as may convent. 2nd I give and bequeath unto my dear wife Margaret in testimony of my sincere regard of affection for her all my real and personal estate, or what may be remaining after my just debts are paid, for her absolute use & benefit, during her natural life. 3rd I give to my son Robert Supple who now lives (I think) in Augusta County, VA. one dollar. 4th I desire that all my personal estate be sold after the death of my wife at such credit as my executor hereinafter named may think best, & the proceeds thereof, be equally divided between my two sons Thomas and Marks. 5th I give to my son John one dollar. 6th I give to my son Marks the tract of land on which I live, I also desire that he (Marks) nor any of the rest of my children who may get in possession of said land, shall not gamble it off in any way whatever. 7th I desire that my two sons Thomas and Marks shall keep me decently clothed, and supply me with all necessary provisions while I am sick, and attend personally to me when necessary. Lastly I do hereby nomimate & appoint my friend John Dudding executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others, or former wills & testaments by me heretofor made. In witness thereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed my seal this 2nd day of July A.D. one thousand eight hundred and fifty.
