The State Tribune
Saturday, July 15, 1882
P. H. Withrow died July 7th, 1882, aged forty eight years six months and eighteen days. He was afflicted with nervous fever eight weeks. The night before he died it was thought by those around his bed, that he was passing into the chilly waters of death. He awoke and handed his hand to his brother John, and said "Oh, John I was almost in heaven, I was making up my mind to make my step in to the eternal world, I could almost see the nail holes in the blessed Savior's hands." He passed away without a murmur.
He leaves a wife and nine children and five grand children to mourn their loss.
