Tuesday, October 17, 1859

Matthew D. Brown Esq. died on the 22nd day of August at his residence in Johnson county, Missouri, in the 71st year of his age. He was one of the first settlers of the Kanawha Valley, Virginia where he raised a large family, filled offices of trust and amassed immense wealth. He moved to Missouri in 1856.
