Joaquin County, CA
History having been
one of my favorite subjects, most certainly due to the keen interest
of my Dad, Louis Buren (1913-1979) from his love of the subject, I
have evolved onto the path of family historian.
Married to Lonnie
Campbell in 1968, we will soon celebrate our 34th
year together. Three beautiful grown children; Corinna Kirk,
Connie West & Lonnie Jr. All are married & have or, are
starting families of their own.
Customer Service is
the career path I chose,
having over twenty years in this field, in one manner or
another. After
September 11, 2001 the company I worked for decided they had to make
some staff reductions, and I was one of those chosen. Since
Lonnie & I didn't have young children at home, and Lonnie is
gainfully employed, it was not a real hard situation to accept (yes,
that was me smiling all the way home). I am now taking
accounting courses at a local college, with the intention of having a
business from home in the future.
I hope you enjoy the
web pages. They are provided to both teach & provide
information on the San Joaquin County, CA; Iron County, MO; and our
ancestral families.
One of the major
projects I am working on is the documentation of those buried at the
Stockton State Hospital Cemetery in Stockton, CA. This was
supposed to be an easy project, but has become a major venture.
The records were not to be found, found and not to be acessed; the
site was supposed to be in one place, and I documented it was in
another, then found that there were at least 3 & possibably 4
burial places for those unfortunate enough to die while in the
"care" of the State of California. Now we find the
site of one cemetery has been illegally rezoned and built upon.
The total disreguard for these forgotten souls is heartbreaking.
I have tried to walk away from it all due to other, present issues,
but keep getting pulled back, and if I were at all convinced that we
can be beckoned from the hereafter, I have been... Yes, I am the
crazy lady standing alone in a vacant, trash strewn field, camera,
dowsing rods in hand... saying "If you guys want my help,
someone has to tell me what to do here." (to date no answers,
just the feeling that they need dignity in death that they didn't get
in life). Who knows, I may become a true believer yet!
Thanks for visiting,
and please sign the guest book along the way,
leaving your comments on the progression of this site, or just to
say hi.... just remeber this is a family site, and any comments made
that are not in keeping with that aspect, will be unceremoneously removed.
Life is precious, and
when we lose respect for one another, including those who went before
us, we can't expect our children to have respect for themselves, us
or the future. Thanks again for dropping by!
