Flat Top, Colorado, a rural post office, was located in Washington County, south of Last Chance on Highway 71.  It was in operation from 1915 to 1921.  Lily Jackson became the postmaster on Jan. 30, 1915.   On Jan. 15, 1921 it was closed and the mail was sent to the Genoa, Colorado post office.

William Burton, son of William & Mary Jane (Briggs) Burton was living at Flat Top at the time of his mother's death.  He signed his mother's death certificate and his address on the death certificate was Flat Top. William was the brother of my grandmother, Sara Elizabeth (Burton) Capehart. 

Edward & Albert Wigant, sons of Thomas F. & Clarissa Reed (Burton) Wigant both were living at Flat Top when they registered for the draft during WWI.  Edward & Albert were the nephews of my grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth (Burton) Capehart and the sons of her sister, Clarissa.
