Sarah Lay	|     This Indenture made the twenty fourth day of November in 
the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three by and 
between Lear Pirtle of the County of White and State of Tennessee of the one 
part and Sarah Lay her daughter of the County and State aforesaid of the 
other part.  Witnesseth that the said Lear Pirtle for and in consideration of 
the natural love and affection which she the said Lear Pirtle bears towards 
her said daughter the said Sarah Lay hath given and granted and confirmed and 
by these presents do give grant and confirm unto the said Sarah Lay the 
following articles of personal property, goods and chattels hereby given, 
granted and confirmed to the said Sarah Lay her heirs and assigns &s.  To 
wit: One young yellow Mare, One bed and Stead and furniture, One side Saddle 
& one Cupboard, One table.  To have and to hold the said property unto the 
said Sarah Lay her heirs and assigns forever and the said Lear Pirtle for 
herself and her heirs, the said property and every part thereof against 
herself her heirs and assigns and all and every person whatever will warrant 
and forever defend by these presents.  In Witness whereof the said Leah 
Pirtle hereunto set her hand and seal the date above written.

White County		|     Personally appeared before me Nicholas Oldham 
clerk of White County Court Leah Pirtle the within named granted with whom I 
am personally acquainted and who acknowledged the due execution of the within 
deed for the purposes therein contained which is recorded.  Witness my and at 
office the 22nd December 1843.
