I received the Civil War pension records of John and Winnie E Morris from the Natl Archives. It
looks like John was getting $6.00/month, and after he died was raised to $12/mo. for Winnie. They sent
me 125 pages of affidavits. Some of them are signed by A.W. Thompson, also Joseph C. Chandler. He
suffered from rheumatism, heart and kidney disease, giddiness?, and was almost deaf and blind.
Attached is one of the documents that gives his date of death and wedding date. Apparently he died on
his 49th wedding anniversary, July 30, 1892. Also one document state Winnie's age was 66 at the time of
John's death, so she was born in 1826. The location of their marriage, Walker county, Georgia was the
birthplace of Alexander C. Morris, my 2nd great grandfather.
