White County Tennessee Deed Book N, 1842-1844 Pages 432-434 Jacob L. Pirtle | to | Bill of Sale for Jacob & Lucy Foster Pirtle | Know all men by these presents that I Jacob L. Pirtle of White County Tennessee have this day sold to Foster A. Pirtle of the County and State aforesaid two Negro Slaves one man by the name of Jacob about thirty nine years of age also one Negro woman Slave by the name of Lucy about Sixty five years of age. I Warrant the title to said Slaves to the said Foster A. Pirtle his heirs and assigns forever against the lawful claims of all persons whatever. I warrant them to be sound as far as I know and Slaves for life this April the 11th 1844. Test James C. Kelly Jacob L. Pirtle the above named conveyor with whom I am personally acquainted and who acknowledged the due execution of the above bill of sale for the purposes therein contained which is Recorded. Roberts Reg White County Zachariah Lay | to | Samuel S. Hooper | This indenture made this April the 10th 1844 Between Zachariah A. Lay of White County and State of Tennessee of the one part and Samuel S. Hooper of the County of DeKalb of the other part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of forty Dollars to the said Lay to him in hand paid by the aforesaid Samuel S. Hooper the receipts whereof he has hereby acknowledged and thereby doth discharge him the said Samuel S. Hooper have granted bargained sold and confirmed unto him the aforesaid Samuel S. Hooper him and his heirs or assigns the following tract or parcel of land situated in the County aforesaid on the Waters of the Caney fork containing seventy three acres and one forth more or less and bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at a stake and post oak pointers in George Pirtles line running thence north with said line one hundred and six poles to a black oak Moses Biar corner, thence west with said line seventy five poles to a black oak his corner, thence north with another of his lines forty poles to a post oak, thence west seventeen poles to a stake and post oak pointers in a line of a survey made in the name of William Balch, thence south with said line ninety four poles to a stake and black oak pointers his corner, thence west with another of his lines twenty two poles to a white oak, thence South fifty two poles to a stake black oak pointers, thence East one hundred and fourteen poles to the Beginning taking a part of a survey in the name of Polly Sorrells and a part of a Survey in the name of James Maze to make the seventy three acres and one fourth with the hereditaments and appurtenances to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances to the said Samuel S. Hooper and his heirs forever in witness where of Zachariah A. Lay aforesaid hath hereunto set his land and seal the day and date above written. Signed Sealed and delivered in presents of us. W. Roberts Reg White County Jacob L. Pirtle | to | Samuel S. Hooper | Know all men by these presents that I Jacob L. Pirtle of the State of Tennessee and County of White of the one part and Samuel S. Hooper of DeKalb and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred and sixty Dollars to said Pirtle in hand paid by the said Samuel S. Hooper the receipts whereof he has hereby acknowledged and thereby doth forever acquit and discharge him the said Samuel S. Hooper have granted bargained sold and confirmed unto him the aforesaid Samuel S. Hooper him and his heirs or assigns the following tracts or parcels of land situated in the County aforesaid on the waters of the Caney fork. One tract containing thirty acres and bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at a post oak in the barrons near Edward Hooper north Boundary line running thence East ninety eight poles to a state and pointers, thence north forty nine poles to a small post oak, thence West ninety eight poles to a post oak, thence South forty nine poles to the beginning. Also another tract containing one hundred and thirty eight acres and bounded as follow to wit: Beginning on a black Walnut now a rock corner in Robert Cooks line, running Eastwardly to the ford of the branch or Creek, thence up said Creek with its meanders passing the head of the Spring to a white oak at the mouth of a hollow, thence up said hollow with a line made by John Cantrell and Smith Cantrell to a stake one side of the fence on the East side of Smith Cantrells part, thence Northwardly a new line to a post oak, thence Eastwardly to a black oak a new Capt. Line to a post oak, thence Eastwardly to a black oak standing in the line of Richard Crawder, thence South with sd line to a stake Hew Cooks corner, thence West with said Cooks line to a small white oak his north west corner at the mouth of a hollow, thence up said hollow a marked line toward the Sipress Swamp to a small black oak in George Pirtles line, thence West with said Pirtles line to a post oak the East boundary line of Robert Cooks tract, thence north with said Cooks line to the Beginning. Also another tract containing forty nine acres and bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at a post oak running north with Pirtles thirty acre Survey passing his corner at fifty poles in all one hundred and two poles to three small sassafrases on the South boundary of Richard Crawders one hundred acre Survey, thence West with his line thirty to a black oak Crowders South West corner, thence north with another of his lines fifty three poles to two small dogwoods and small mulberry, thence West eighty three and a half poles to a black oak, thence South one hundred and fifty five poles to a Stake and post oak pointers, thence East one hundred and thirteen poles and a half to the Beginning. Also another tract one hundred acres and bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at a sweet gum on the West boundary line of Edward E. Hoopers two hundred acre Survey running thence with his line one hundred and two poles to a white oak, thence West forty two to a stake and pointers, thence north seventy poles to a stake and pointers, thence West sixty eight poles to a maple, thence South one hundred and seventy two poles to two post oaks, thence East striking the corner of the before named Hoopers Survey at ten poles continuing East with said line one and ten poles to the Beginning. Also another tract containing fifty acres to wit: Beginning at a white oak and maple running thence South to a post oak sapling near a small drain, Thence Eastwardly to a post oak in the ;hollow, thence up said hollow to a pint, thence up said pint to a black in said Hoopers two hundred acre Survey, thence with said line to the beginning with the hereditaments and appurtenances to have and to hold the said tracts or parcels of land with its appurtenances to the said Samuel S.
