Mrs. Howard Easton (Rilla Bella Runkle)

FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN IDAHO
Mrs. Howard Easton, former Cambridge resident, passed away
Oct. 23, at Rupert, Idaho, after she had been apparently
recovering from a three weeks of illness. The Minadoka County
News of Rupert, Idaho carried the following account of her death.
Three weeks ago Mrs. Easton was taken ill, a hemmorhage from
the left leg placing her in the Rupert General Hospital. She
improved steadily and after a week's treatment was able to go to
the home of her daughter, Mrs. Earl Goode in Rupert, remaining
there a week. Friday evening she desired to return to Paul and
felt equal to the trip, expressing a wish to spend the night at
the home of her daughter Mrs. Vern Patterson, and to continue to
her own home Saturday. This she did and was up and around the
house in the early afternoon Sunday when the final attack that
resulted in death two hours later seized her.
She was 64 years of age. Her maiden name was Rilla Bella
Runkle, daughter of James and Mahalia Runkle. She was born Aug.
3, 1874 at South Whitley, Indiana. Sept. 22, 1897, Miss Runkle
and Howard Easton wre united in marriage at Beaver City, Nebr.
Mr. & Mrs. Easton came to the Minidoka project from Cambridge,
Nebr., in 1912, making their home here from that time.
Surviving are her husband, Howard Easton, six children, six
grandchildren, one brother and two sisters. The sons and daugh-
ters surviving are: Mrs. Hazel Patterson, wife of Vern Patterson
of Paul; Mrs. Gladys Goode of Rupert; Charley Easton and Clinton
Easton both of Paul; Laura Mae Easton, teacher in the Twin Falls
public schools, and Emma Easton of Rupert. The grandchildren are
Roscoe and Lloyd Patterson; Irene Belle and Buster Goode; Gene
Easton and Kenneth Easton. All of the sons and daughters were at
the Easton home at the time of their mother's death.
Services were conducted at the Methodist Church in Rupert at
2 O'clock Wednesday afternoon with interment in the Paul
cemetery.
