Ethel Fattig Rt 1 Box 97 The Fattig-Trosper Family Cambridge, Ne 69022 Phone 308-697-4572 Ethel Trosper, daughter of B. F. Trosper and Dicie (Runkle) Trosper married Grover D. Fattig, son of Charley and Mary (Warden) Fattig. Ethel was born and lived most of her life in Furnas County, Nebraska. Grover was born in Worth County, near Grant City, Missouri, moved with his parents to Cambridge, Nebraska 7 Mar 1906 to a farm southeast of Cambridge. Our parents were farmers and we also farmed until 1928 when it became necessary to sell the farm we were living on and we had to seek other ways of living or employment. The years of the dirty, dry Thirties were coming on. We tried and did various kinds of work, lived in Kansas for a few years and one evening we had just sat down to eat supper when one of those black dirt storms hit, it became so dark and dirty we could feel the grit in our mouths as we ate. We stopped eating and covered the table with cloths til after the worst was over. In many places along the road there were drifts of dirt and sand as high as farmers fence posts. Lots of soil changed places. My sister living in Idaho urged us to come out there, so in in August 1936 we left Nebraska for Idaho. The Sun Valley Resort was just starting to be built. Soon after our arrival, a call came "need help", we went up in the mountains and Grover applied for work and in a few days was hired. There was one small cafe and a small hotel with dining room for the construction workers to get meals and would have to stand outside in a line to wait their turn. I thought I could help, I served home cooked meals to a table of 12 men including Grover for a couple of seasons. Due to the war the Resort was closed in 1941, the Navy took charge. We worked near Jerome, Idaho for a while and then went to Seattle, Washington where both of us worked at the Boeing Airplane Company. In 1945, we moved back to Nebraska as Father wanted us to stay with him and farm, arriving the eve of his 80th birthday. When the Estate Sale was held we bought this farm and I have remained ever since. Grover passed away 23 July 1970. Our daughter, Audra married Harry C. McGee, who owned an insurance agency in Traverse City, Michigan before his death 16 September 1976. Three children born to this union, Sandra, Mary, and H. Dean. Sandra married Curtis Holliday, their four children are Michael, Kathy, Kristy and Troy. They own and operate Panic Printing and North Country Typesetting in Traverse City, Michigan. Mary married Nikki Killman, painter, they have three sons, Jonnathan, Twins, Billy and Danny. Mary is Manager of the West Lansing Branch of the Automobile Association of America in Lansing, Michigan. H. Dean McGee has a Master Plumber License, graduated from Oakland Uni- versity with a Master of Science Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He employed by GMF Robotics Corp., Troy, Michigan.
