FORBES

 This name is a contraction of the name Fobes also Forbush. John Fobes from Dusbury was one of the original settlers of Bridgewater, Massachusetts and died there in 1661. His wife was Constance Mitchell, sister of Experience Mitchell one of the forefathers who came over in the first of three ships to America. Their daughter Elizabeth Fobes or Forbes, born 1657 married Joseph Russell and their daughter Mary married John Lapham in 1700.
