SEVERANCE From Severine Mountains in Lanquedor, France John Severance came to this country in the ship Elizabeth in 1634 and settled in Salisbury, Mass., being one of the original proprietors of that town. He became a Freeman in 1637 and in 1671 he was a commission officer in the Militia. He married in 1635 Abigail Kimball, daughter of Richard and Ursula (Scott) Kimball who were members of the company who came over on the Elizabeth. Abigail died in 1658 and then married Susanna Ambrose. John and Abigails daughter Mary married in 1633 James Coffin, son of Tristnam Coffin and Dionis and were blessed with fourteen children, five of whom we are interested in , namely:
These marriages brought about some very close relationships which a reference to the Coffin and Gardner charts will show.
