1. WILLIAM1 COE. He married JANE MILSTEAD.

Notes for WILLIAM COE: I am looking for the assistance on the family of William COE, wife Jane, who died in Fairfax County in about 1769, leaving land in Prince William to son Presley COE. Other children mentioned were sons William, Edward, John, and daughters Pricilla DAVIS, Mary PAYNE, and Embley (Emily?) LANGFITT/LANGSTETT. I am particularly interested in any details providing fiorm evidence of the marriage of Priscilla to Richard Davis. Please reply [email protected]

Dick, I've e-mailed you some things on Richard and Priscilla (Coe) Davis. As you point out, Priscilla was a daughter of William and Jane (Milstead) Coe of Fairfax County, VA. William and Jane's oldest son Walter was born March 31, 1750, in Charles County, MD, so I suspect that Priscilla was born in the 1750s. Richard and Priscilla's oldest son Andrew F. Davis was born Feb. 24, 1775, so they must have married in the early 1770s. And yes they had another son named Presley Davis. Hope this helps. Carl Robert Coe

Children of WILLIAM COE and JANE MILSTEAD are:

2. i. EDWARD2 COE, d. February 15, 1815, Loudoun County, Virginia.

ii. PRESLEY COE.

iii. PRISCILLA COE, m. RICHARD DAVIS.

iv. WILLIAM COE.

v. JOHN COE.

vi. MARY COE.

vii. EMILY COE, m. ? PAYNE.

5. ELIZABETH PRISCILLA4 COE (ROBERT3, EDWARD2, WILLIAM1) was born May 07, 1828 in Loudoun County, Virginia, and died September 01, 1895 in Lafayette County, Missouri. She married HECTOR B. PEACOCK November 26, 1844 in Montgomery County, Maryland, son of ELIJAH PEACOCK and ANN HOUGH.

Notes for HECTOR B. PEACOCK: From James Peacock at [email protected] - I am a descendant of John Hough Peacock, Elijah's first child, and brother to Hector Peacock. I knew that Hector had gone to Lafayette County, shortly after his brother John who went in 1847 and he shows in the 1860 census. But after that he disappears, or so I thought and I had always wondered what happened to him, I had supposed the Civil War had made him move or something?? I wonder why he doesn't show up in the subsequent censuses?

Anyway there were actually four Peacock brothers that went to Lafayette County, John, Hector, Turner and Benjamin Franklin Peacock, and they all spent there remaining years in Lafayette County. John and Turner are buried in the Higginsville City Cemetery, and Benjamin in another cemetery. As you can tell by the article you quote on John, he was very successful and had a large family, he is my great grandfather. John's house built in 1868 still stands near Higginsville and is called the "Old Peacock Farm". It is owned by one of his descendants, Betty Mendenhall. Turner was also very successful and died worth around $200,000 in the early 1900's. He came to Lafayette County about 1848 but then went to California for the gold rush which some think gave him the basis for later wealth.

Your material cleared up a couple of things for me, including what happened to Hector but also the confusion I had between the two Minnies, Minnie H. and Minnie L. I couldn't figure out who they were. Another confusion I had was I thought the Virginia that married George Masterson and went to Kansas was the daughter of John Peacock. I couldn't reconcile that assumption with the fact the John Peacock's daughter Virginia later who is shown to be in Higginsville, called Miss Virginia, and was treated like someone who had some physical and mental problems. Now I know.

Children of ELIZABETH COE and HECTOR PEACOCK are:

i. NETTIE5 PEACOCK, m. ? HAMAR.

ii. MINNIE PEACOCK, m. ? ROBERTS.

iii. MASON BOURBON PEACOCK, b. April 06, 1848, Loudoun County, Virginia; d. November 13, 1850, Loudoun County, Virginia.

Notes for MASON BOURBON PEACOCK: Buried at the North Fork Regular Baptist Church. Son of Hector & Elizabeth P. Peacock. DD 11/13/1850 2 years 7 months 7 days.

iv. VIRGINIA PEACOCK, b. September 22, 1850, Loudoun County, Virginia; d. May 13, 1902, Ellsworth, Ellsworth County, Kansas; m. GEORGE GALAN MASTERSON, May 27, 1869, Lafayette County, Missouri.

6. AURELIUS4 COE (ROBERT3, EDWARD2, WILLIAM1) was born September 24, 1836 in Loudoun County, Virginia. He married MARIA L. BELT.

Child of AURELIUS COE and MARIA BELT is:

i. ROLAND LEE5 COE, b. January 20, 1866, Mt. Gilead, Loudoun County, Virginia.
