South Carolina records related to the Revolutionary War
Known as the "Stub Indents," the Stub Entries to Indents Issued in
Payment of Claims refer to payments made after the Revolutionary War
to those who served in the militia or otherwise provided aid to the
rebel cause.
This series is interesting, not only for verifying John McWhorter’s claim to have fought in the American Revolution but also for giving the names of neighbors, who were also listed in the 1790 Census and some even in Casey County, Kentucky where the McWhorters migrated.
