Please Note: This site was formerly located at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Park/7529/, but has been moved to the Rootsweb Freepages server effective 9/30/2001 in order to avoid those annoying pop-up ads now that the Geocities GeoGuide is no longer an option.
Hello! I will be building this site dedicated to my ancestor, Johann Adam Moses, over the next few months. Ok, time to face reality -- make that the next few years (decades?...).
Johann Adam Moses immigrated to America in 1743 on the ship "Loyal Judith". He was a Lutheran from Germany. He settled in Pikeland Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. He was instrumental in founding St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Chester Springs, PA.
I have a lot of information on individuals named Moses who may or may not be related to Adam. I will be posting that data here over the course of the next few months.
My first posting here is a transcription of Adam's will. As you can see, I have broken it down into four major sections, each corresponding to documents held by the Chester County Archives. For a payment of $5.00, you may order a copy of Adam's original will for yourself from the Chester County Archives via their Document Request Service. The fifth section is primarily a glossary of unfamiliar terms found in the will.
My second posting is a letter that has been in my family for many years. This letter was written by a Peter Allen Moses and discusses the family history.
My third posting is a group of tax lists for Chester County, Pennsylvania. Currently tax lists for Pikeland Township from 1765 to 1769 are posted, but I plan to add more soon.
Notice: As of 12/30/1999, the tax lists for Pikeland Township for the year 1771 have been added. It took me a year and a half to get to it, but it's done now.
My fourth posting, added in May of 2000, is a transcription of Philip King's Will.
I hope you enjoy the site, and please come back soon and visit me again.
