Viola Marie Klus
1936 - 1997

Peacefully, in the evening of October 18, 1997, at Percy E. Moore Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer, Viola Marie Klus left us to enter a world of eternal life.

Born on October 30, 1936, she was predeceased by her father Albert in 1983; sister Annette in 1986 and infant daughter Joanne in 1962.

Left behind in mourning is her husband Bohdan (Bud) who will forever cherish the love and companionship they shared for over 40 years. Mourning the passing of their mother are, Danny, Lorna (Gord) Morrison, Keith (Theresa), Darren (Michelle) and Darrel (Cindy). Left with loving memories of "Granny" are grandchildren, Brad, Garett and Stephanie Klus and Bryana, Lisa and Joanne Morrison. Grieving for her are her mother, Jeanne Meilleur; brother Ron (Sylvia) Meilleur; sisters, Denise (Dave) Mann, Janine (Bob) Hnatiuk, Doris (Stan) MacKenzie, Louella (Blake) Harms; brother-in-law Martin Komaromi; all the nephews and nieces, and the many friends she make throughout her life.

She was an active member of the community for many years. Fisher Branch will always appreciate her involvement with the Women's Institute, the Community Centre, Fisher medical Clinic, as well as past service with the Recreation Centre, Interlake PC Association, Youth Justice Committee and many other groups and organizations.

With great joy, she worked for Statistics Canada Manitoba Health Homecare Services, and as a returning officer during provincial and municipal elections until her illness forced retirement upon her.

What she cherished most in life were her family and friends. Her past-times included fishing, curling, golf and spending time marvelling at the beauty of nature.

Fondly remembered by all will be the brightest of smiles, the biggest of hearts, and the greatest courage in the darkest of times. In her life and death we can all learn to love a little more, give more than what we receive, and to take the time to appreciate the things in life that we too often take for granted.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Percy E. Moore Hospital as well as the loving care from all of the homecare workers. We wish to extend a special thank you to Shannon Pyziak for all the support given to us. We will never forget the generosity of the friends and family who gave us their kindness and support in our time of need.

Cremation has taken place. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, October 21 at 8:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 22 at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Fisher Branch, followed by interment at the Ukrainian Christian Congregation Cemetery with Father Bo Wardzinski officiating.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be make to either the Canadian Cancer Society or the Society for Manitoba with Disabilities.

Arrangement in car of Fisher Funeral Home, Fisher Branch, (204) 372-6273 Bud: "District service man at Manitoba Hydro, he lives in Fisher Branch, MB"

In tears we saw you sinking
We watched you fade away,
You suffered much in silence,
You fought so hard to stay,
You faced your task with courage,
Your spirit did not bend,
But still you kept on fighting,
Until the very end.
God saw you getting tired,
When a cure was not to be,
So He put His arms around you,
And whispered "Come to Me".
So when we saw you sleeping,
So peaceful, Free from pain,
We could not wish you back,
To suffer that again.
You didn't deserve what you went through,
So He took you home to rest,
God's garden must be beautiful,
For He only takes the best.
