DAY, WILLIAM

William Day was born 1800 in Co. Kerry, Ireland, and d. 1878. He m. Fanny West, who d. in 1883, age 87. Issue: William, Jr., Mrs. Thos. Lancaster and Joseph (d. unm.).

They came to Canada with their family in 1843, and set. first in Guelph Tp., where they remained two years, going to Peel in 1845.

The late William Day was class leader in the Methodist church, and in politics an Independent. Of his family, William, Jr., b. Ireland, 1827; d. 1901. He came to Peel Tp. at the age of 18 years, and there passed the balance of his long and useful life, leaving 300 acres at the time of his death, besides giving his family a good start in life. He m. Eliza Day, who d. 1899, age 75. Issue: Mary (d.), Ellen (d.), William (d.), Gregory (d. age 20), Joseph, John and Richard. Joseph, b. on the old homestead, m. Catharine Schieck. Issue: Lisle, Eliza, William and George. He owns 100 acres, and is a successful farmer. John owns 200 acres. He m. Mary Campbell. Issue: Colonel and Annie. Richard, m. Myrtle Norris, and also owns 200 acres of land. Issue: Leslie L.

The Day family are among the very best on the 10th line, and the family has been a successful and influential one from the start.
