PATTISON, HENRY

Henry Pattison b. 1847 Eramosa. He is the son of the pioneer James Pattison, late of Eramosa, one of the earliest settlers in that township. There were seven sons in his family, but Henry R. and George, who lives at Alma are the only ones who reside in the county. A daughter, Mrs. Copeland, resides at Everton.

This pioneer d. in 1881, and his widow d. 6 years later. She was a Miss Ann Skerrett, an aunt of Mr. Skerrett, a banker of Arthur Village.

In 1879, Henry R. Pattison purchased 200 acres, Lot 1, Concession 5, West Garafraxa, where he now resides, and in 1904 he purchased an additional 100 acres, Lot 3, Concession 4. His home is one of the finest in the township, with an approach from both the town line and concession; a large brick house, and a very large barn; a fine creek runs through the property. His other farm, Lot 3, Concession 4, has perhaps the finest stone residence in the township. Mr. Pattison follows scientific farming. He has been frequently solicited to stand for municipal office, but as frequently declines. He is a Manager of the Methodist Church, and in politics is an independent. In 1870, he married Eleanor Leslie. Issue: Leslie J., West Garafraxa; Anson H., George W. Lorne R., and three daughters.

George b 1810 Ireland 1834 m Elizabeth Jestin, daughter of Richard Jestin and Elizabeth Payne, m Ann Scott, daughter of James Scott and Helen Duall (Dewell?), on Nov 5, 1880 at Norfolk Street Methodist Church, Guelph, d on Dec 26, 1883 at Eramosa Twp.,and he was buried Dec 28, 1883 at Churchill Cemetery, Esquesing Twp, Halton, Ontario,

He and Elizabeth Jestin lived between 1846 and 1867 at West 1/2 lot 15, Conc. 1, Erin Township, He and Elizabeth Jestin appeared on the census of 1861 at Erin Township, Wellington, Ontario, Canada. Marriage entry lists rank or profession as "gentleman" circa 1880 at Everton Village, Wellington, Ontario, Canada. Marriage certificate for second marriage lists religion as "Methodist." He and Ann Scott lived circa 1880 at Everton Village. Death entry dated 1883 lists occupation as "storekeeper" circa 1883 at Eramosa.
