on 17 Oct 1920 in Glendale Cemetery,Forrest,MS. Exact date of birth and death
given in death certificate. Resided at the time of his death with daughter Julia
(Jarvis) Stone and her husband James F. Stone, 907 Edwards Street, 2nd Ward,
Hattiesburg, MS - cause of death given on death certificate as "paralysis"
with secondary cause given as "mitral regurgitation". He was buried
at Hickory Grove on 17 October 1920, with Hulett Und. Co given as the name of
the undertaker. His death certificate does not give any information on his parents'
names, although it states that his father was born in MS.

Listing of Glendale Cemetery. The Glendale Cemetery is located a short distance
northwest of the intersection in Glendale where the Monroe Rd runs north. It
is on the north side of the road in front of the First Baptist Church of Glendale.
Census of cemetery taken 12-13 Aug 1983. Buried adjacent to Elijah R. Jarvis
are: James F. Stone, Julia J. Stone, Ruby B. Stewart, Florida Jarvis and Grover
Cleve Jarvis.

"DEATH OF E.R. JARVIS
Elijah Richmond Jarvis, age 77, died Saturday night at 9:30 at the residence
of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Stone, 907 Edwards Street.
The funeral services wre conducted at the residence yesterday afternoon by Dr.
W. F. Yarborough and the interment was made in Hickory Grove cemetery."

Co,MS. According to death certificate, she died at 907 Edwards Street, Hattiesburg,
MS, of angena caused by auto-intoxication. The death certificate gives her father's
surname only and no information on her mother or birthplace of either parent.

Robert Knox JARVIS(4) was born about
1875. He died prior 1900. According to Hazel Hurdle, Robert Knox Jarvis was
shot and killed in a gun accident when he was still young. His brother William
E. Jarvis shot him accidentally with a loaded gun they though was unloaded while
playing.

(18) was born about 1876. Unsure of source of marriage date. Resided
in Hattiesburg, MS according to Hazel Hurdle. According to Mrs. Henry (Peggy)
Meadows, she died while giving birth (or pregnant with) two twin daughters.

(15) was born on 4 Mar 1877. She died on 28 Dec 1919. She was buried
in Glendale Cemetery,Forrest,MS. Per Hazel Hurdle, she was a telephone operator
in Hattiesburg, MS and never married.

Mrs. Maggie Carpenter, of 265-F Market Mall died at 2:30 yesterday afternoon
at her home after a long illness.
Mrs. Carpenter, who was 86, was born at Tippah Co, Miss. and moved here in 1923.
Her husband, Jim Carpenter, died about 58 years ago. She was a Baptist. She leaves
three daughters, Mrs. Claudia Gary of 1969 Manila, Mrs. W. H. Petty of the Market
Mall address and Mrs. O. F. Dixon of 4562 Marigold Lane, five grandchildren and
six great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon at the Slayden,
Miss, Baptist Church with burial in the Slayden cemetery. Memphis Funeral Home
has charge."

"MRS. J.F. STONE
Services were held at 10 o'clock this morning at Green's Creek Baptist Church
for Mrs. J. F. Stone of RFD 5, who died Saturday at Methodist Hospital following
a brief illness. Dr. John E. Barnes, Rev. Q.C. Barrett and Rev. C.C. Bryan officiated.
Interment was in Glendale Cemetery, with Hulett Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Stone had been a resident of Hattiesburg area for the past 44 years and
was a member of Green's Creek Baptist Church. Pallbearers were Joe Stone Doggett,
Ernest Smith, Henry Meadows, Buddy Walters, Richard Stone and Sonny Stone.
Mrs. Stone is survived by three daughters, one son, a brother, a sister, nine
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren."

"GROVER CLEVE JARVIS
Services were to be held at 4 p.m. today at Hulett Funeral Home chapel for Grover
Cleve Jarvis, 75, a former resident of 211 Newman Street. Rev. W.M. Smith will
officiate. Burial is to follow in Glendale Cemetery.
Mr. Jarvis died Friday in Mobile at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Margaret J.
Melton, where he had been living since February. Mr. Jarvis formerly was in the
contracting business in Hattiesburg. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner, and
a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, Zion Hill Baptist Church and Carpenters
Local No. 1233.
Survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Melton; a sister, Mrs. Maggie Carpenter,
Memphis; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Will Jarvis, Scooba, and Mrs. Frank Jarvis,
Mt. Pleasant, Miss; a brother-in-law, W.C. Stewart, city; and a number of nieces
and nephews."

"Services for Mrs. W. C. Stewart, 67, who died Sunday morning at Methodist
Hospital, will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Immanual Baptist Church. Mrs. Stewart
was a resident of Hattiesburg for 52 years. She was a charter member of Immanual
Church. The body will remain at the family home, 1704 Edwards St., until time
for the services.
Officiating will be Rev. R. E. Nielson, pastor, and Rev. Troy Sumrall, former
pastor of Immanual Church. Reverend Sumrall now is pastor of a church in Refugio,
Texas. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery. Quigley's Funeral Home has charge
of arrangements.
Mrs. Stewart is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Fred Kahler of Hattiesburg
and Mrs. F. M. Herring of Detroit; three sons, N. A., L. H. and R. T. Stewart
all of Hattiesburg; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren."
