"Shamgar, b. 1640-42 probably at Lynn, Mass. rem. from E.H. before 1699
to Cape May, N.J. where he had bought 1,000 acres of land; he d. 1728. He m.
Sarah Pierson of Southampton. He settled his son Josiah, b. abt. 1678, in 1699
at Poxabogue, near Bridgehampton; giving him land and tanyards. Shamgar 3 b.
March 27, 1671 belongs to N.J. history.
Col. Le Roy Barton of Port Washington, N.Y. has given information on the Poxabogue
descendants of Shamgar 2 and has placed original documents in the Pennypacker
L.I. Collection"
