born on Aug 25, 1771 in Ste. Genevieve, MO. Marie
Louise AUBUCHON was the daughter of Antoine Tonish Aubuchon and Marie Louise Denis
VERONEAU. She married Michel PLACET (1768-1834)
in Ste Genevieve, MO on Feb 18, 1791 in Ste Genevieve, MO. Witnesses to the marriage
were Placet, Antoine Aubuchon, Charleville, Lalumondiere, P. Levrard, F(ran)cois Valle and
the official for the marriage was Father St. Pierre. Michel PLACET and his
wife bought the western tract of the Colonel Valle Farm from JB Valle. This farm
encompassed all of what is now Bloomsdale. This was known as Survey 2088 and Michel left
it to his 5 daughters when he died.. Michel and his family were the first settlers of
Bloomsdale originally called Village DuClos. Michel died on Nov 18, 1834 in Ste Genevieve,
MO. Below is the house left to Michel by his father, Michel Placet (1731-1795) who built this house on 246 N Main Street. His father and mother (Marie Lousie Tessier) were living in Old Town until the flood of 1785. He was granted a gift from the Spanish Government of the Entire Block One of Main Street for helping to rebuild the church at its new location. He built this house and left it to his son Michel. Michel traded in the house for the Colonel Valle Farm. |
