The Ancestral line of the Drury's has been traced back to the Norman Conquest of England in 1066 by some prominent genealogists. The line that I have been researching descended from Suffolk, England in the areas of Rougham and Thurston. This line of Drury's came to St. Mary's County, Maryland about 1670. That Drury was Robert Thomas William Drury who was born in Docking, Norfolk, England.

The first Drury born in the United States was John Drury in 1714 in St. Mary's County. John also is a prominent addition to the ancestry because he married Susannah Hayden in 1734. Susannah Hayden descends from English Royalty encompassing the Period of Saxons and Danes. Due to the inter-marriage between ruling families, we also have a connection to Scottish Royalty.

For 3 generations the Drury's lived in St. Mary's County until some (my line) moved to Prairie du Rocher, ILL and finally ended up in Ste. Genevieve, MO.
