Douglas James Lockwood
1957-2007
WALLACE - Douglas James Lockwood, 49, of Wallace died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, as the result of an accident south of North Platte.
He was born July 27, 1957, at Omaha to James Robert and Marion Avis Johnson Lockwood. He grew up in North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School in 1975. Doug then went to Mid-Plains Community College and graduated with an associate's degree in building construction in 1977. He worked for several different contractors in North Platte before moving to Wallace in 1987 and going to work for Hansen's. He worked for them until 1992, when he went to work for himself for two years. Doug then went to work for a contractor in Grant and in 2001, went to work for Mastre Homes and worked there until October 2006 when he again went to work for himself.
Doug married Sharon Kay Bringewatt Widholm July 4, 2000, in Rapid City, S.D., and they made their home in Wallace.
Mr. Lockwood was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Platte, Wallace Masonic Lodge 279 AF&AM, Wallace Fire and Rescue and is a past fire chief, a position he served in for 14 years.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon of Wallace; two daughters, Ronni Lockwood of Corrales, N.M., and Abbi (Brandon) Hollenbeck of Edgewood, N.M.; two stepdaughters, Julie Widholm of Gothenburg and Terri (Kenny) Tallo of McCook; his father, James Lockwood of North Platte; three sisters, Deborah Haverland of Lafayette, Colo., Jacquelyn (LeRoy) Jacobson of San Antonio and Yvonne (Jamie) Houchin of Rapid City, S.D.; a brother, Randal (Lori) Lockwood of Emmett, Idaho; his mother-in-law, Rhoda Ozanne of Wallace; several nieces, nephews and other family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marion, and two infant brothers.
Memorials have been established for the Wallace Fire Department or the Wallace Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services and Masonic rites will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at the First Baptist Church in North Platte with Pastor Tom Wiles officiating.
Burial will be in Morning View Cemetery at Wallace.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday and from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with family receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m., at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore in North Platte.
