Raymond E. Fife, 88, of West Grant Street, Houston, died Thursday, December 10, 1987, in McMurray Hills Manor.
He was born January 23, 1899, in Canonsburg, the son of Charles and Martha Skiles Fife.
In 1925, he founded the Fife Moving and Storage Company of Meadow Lands and was serving as chairman of the board at the time of his death.
Mr. Fife was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Canonsburg where he had been a past chairman of the Trustee Board an he had previously been a Sunday school teacher. He was also a past president of the Methodist men and had been an honorary member of the official board of the church.
A 47-year member of the Motor Truck Association, he was a past president of the Washington-Greene County Chapter.
For 18 years, he had been the regional chairman for the Salvation Army in the Canonsburg-Houston area.
Mr. Fife had previously been a Boy Scout leader and was a member of the Washington Area Senior Citizens.
He was past president of the Canonsburg Houston Kiwanis Club. Mr. Fife was a member of Chartiers lodge No. 297 F & AM, the Scottish Rite Valley of Pittsburgh, the Washington Royal Arch Chapter 150, Jacques DeMolay Commandry No. 3 Knights Templar, and Syria Temple in Pittsburgh. He was also a 50-year member of the Canon Lodge No. 204 Knights of Pythias.
On September 15, 1932, he married Elizabeth Atkinson, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are one daughter, Mrs. Katherine Stroup of Williamsburg, Va.; one son, Charles W. Fife of Houston; one granddaughter, Mrs. Beth Aranda of Williamsburg; three grandsons, Robert Orr of Columbiana, Ohio, John Orr of Williamsburg and Paul Fife of Houston; three step grandchildren.
Deceased are one brother, Selwyn Fife, and four sisters, Genieve Jones, Rowene Atkinson, Velma Johnson and Florence Smith.

Fife of West Grant Street, Houston, who died Thursday, December 10, 1987, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 3 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the William E. Speakman Funeral Home Ltd. of Houston, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 14, with the Rev. James Davis,officiating. Interment in Forest Lawn Gardens. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, by the Canon Lodge No. 204 Knights of Pythias also attending will be the Pythian Sister Temple No. 172 in the funeral home. Masonic Services will be Conducted at 7:30 p.m. Sunday by the Chartiers Lodge No. 297 F & AM in the funeral home.

H. Howard Springer
Math teacher in Canon-McMillan district
H. Howard "Beans" Springer, 84, of McMurray, died Friday, April 30, 1999.
Born November 25, 1914, in Canonsburg, he was a son of James C. and Mary Ellen Gallagher Springer.
Mr. Springer was a graduate of Canonsburg High School and attended Bethany College. He received a degree in education from Edinboro College and
received his master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
Mr. Springer's teaching career spanned 37 years. He spent most of his career in Canon-McMillan School District where he was a junior high
mathematics teachers. He also taught school in Franklin-Oil City School District and Bethlehem-Center School District.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Canonsburg.
A veteran of World War II, Mr. Springer served in the U.S. Army in the China-Burma-India Theater. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State
Education Association, Jefferson Historical Society of Canonsburg, American Association of Retired Persons 1870 of McMurray, and Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 764 of McMurray.
Surviving are his wife, Mary C. Mandus Springer; a son, James H. Springer of Norcross, Ga.; a daughter, Cathy Shader of Venetia; two grandchildren,
Neil A. Shader and Susannah L. Shader; a sister, Eva Lee Farrell of Canonsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three brothers, Charles, Wilbert and Roy Springer; and five sisters, Mary Huber, Lottie Springer, Lila Springer, Clara Webb and Edna
Fife.
