Social Events
A notable springtime wedding was that which united the lines of Mr. Carson Blayney, of West Finley, and Miss Carolina Bertha Wolfe, of Claysville. The event took place at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. & Mrs. C.C. Wolfe, at eight o'clock Thursday evening, April 10th, 1908.
A striking effective bridal bower was arranged in the parlor for the ceremony. Curtain drapery entwined with smilax, with artistic arrangement of ferns and narcissus white with just the right touch of green foliage, and a large, snow-white wedding bell suspended in front, formed the setting for the ceremony viewed by the two score guests. The principals were unattended as they took their positions in step with the strains of the popular wedding march well rendered by Miss Anna Wolfe, the bride carrying a bunch of white roses. Rev. Frank Dish D.D., officiated, Rev. G.W., of Burnsville, assisted. After the good will greetings the guests were ushered in the dining room and a choice dinner served. The table colors were pink and white. Mr. and Mrs. Blayney left on the night express for an eastern trip, the national capital being an object point. They were recipients of a nice list of useful and ornamental gifts. Mr. Blayney is a substantial young farmer and useful citizen of West Finley township, Mrs. Blayney has been a progressive educator and active in several branches of church work; together forming an estimal couple.
The out-of-town guests included Miss Edna Wolfe, of Pittsburg; Mrs. Ida M. Ferrell, Misses Sadie Milligan, Bessie Giles and Blanche Ashbrook, of Washington; Mrs. D.J. McDaid, of West Alexander; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. L. Blayney and Miss Anna Blayney, of near West Alexander; H.E. Giles and Miss Pearl Giles, of Wheeling; Miss Icy Danley, of Arden; Rev. and Mrs. G.W. Hawley, Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Irey, Mrs. Tillie Wright, Misses Lizzie Allison and Lesta Irey, of Burnsville; Miss Flossie Auld, of Graysville; Mrs. F.B. Smith and sons, John and Clay, of Nineveh; Mrs. Charles Tripp, and son, Charles, of Deer Lick R.D.2; Reed Wolfe, student of Grove City College.
