For McNally's Ferry the last days began early in the 1960's.  Many areas along the St. John River Valley were to be flooded with the building of the power generating station at Mactaquac.  Homes were either moved, torn down or burnt and the land was cleared.  Some of the homes that were saved were moved and now are preserved at the historical settlement of Kings Landing. My grandparent's home was torn down and the area now is completely under water. My great uncle, Don McNally captured with his camera the way it was at the end.  To view a full-size picture click on each thumbnail.

The first 5 pictures show the area of McNally's Ferry before the flooding started.  The sixth picture shows construction in Upper Kingsclear across the river from McNally's Ferry.

The five pictures below show the McNally's Ferry area after the house had been torn down and the barns moved to their new location. The bridge, as the pictures show was left and consumed by the gradually enlarging St. John River. The pictures below portray the fall of 1967.

Below is the last highway sign for McNally's Ferry.  It was probably removed by Donald McNally just prior to the flooding in 1967.
