The
making of maple syrup products was a long-time activity for the McNally family.
The annual trek to the camp to sample maple candy made on snow will always be a
treasured childhood memory!
The photos below show the camp ,
sap collection and the
making of maple products.

An early 1900's sugar camp.
The collection of
sap in the 1920's or 30's.
In the 1940's the McNally's sugar camp was used as the focus for an article on
the Maple Sugar Industry in New Brunswick, possibly by the Maple Sugar Industry
or by the government.
The 3 photos below are courtesy of the Provincial
Archives. Click on each picture for a full-sized view. The first photo shows the
collection of sap, the second my
great uncle Wallace McNally, and the 3rd shows a sampling of maple products.
The
picture in the middle above shows the McNally sugar camp of the 1970's. Due to the
roof falling in this camp was demolished in the late fall of 1999. On the right
are the last 2 McNally men to produce maple syrup on the McNally farm, my
grandfather, Byron McNally and his brother Don. On the left is my
grandfather, collecting sap.
