The two samplers pictured below are in the possession of my aunt Joyce Lawrence. The first sampler, dated 1866 was completed by my great-great grandmother, Eliza Jane McCullough, daughter of Michael and Anne Gallagher McCullough, and wife of Thomas William Jewett. Eliza Jane was born March 28, 1846 in Kingsclear and died Nov. 10, 1919.  

    The second sampler dated 1855 was completed by Emmeline Smith, daughter of William and Mary Brown Smith.  Emmeline's husband, James William Jewett was my great-great grandfather's,first cousin.  Emmeline was born April 27, 1837 in Kingsclear and died April 9, 1888.
