My 2nd great-grandfather, Alanson McNally was a member of the York County Council.  He was one of the representatives for the Parish of Queensbury from the early 1880's to 1901.   This photo was taken in January of 1901, he died in May of that year. A better picture of Alanson can be found on the Family Photos page. He is the man faintly circled.

Also included in the picture is Alanson's son-in-law Addison Edwin Cliff, a councilor for the Parish of Kingsclear. He is the shorter man one person to the right of Alanson in the back row.

The book, The Madam Keswick, by Sylvia Yerxa Sharpe states that the Council was formed in 1855 and held it's first meeting in the market building on Pheonix Square at Fredericton.  It also states that the Council was formed by men of all political parties to aid the progress of York county.  A larger photo can be accessed by going here.  To return to this page hit the back button on your browser.
