RICHARD MOGEN and his nephew SCOTT SWITZER visited Norway in 1976. They visited the GRONBO place --"There was a couple in their '60's who lived there. They had daughter who lived about a hundred yards away in a newer home. (HJORDIS) They reported that the home was over 200 years old. The location of the homestead was on top of a large hill and was covered over with pine trees and had several old store houses along with the wooden house with very elaborate decorations. The front porch, which was open, had a stairway leading upstairs."

They went to the "MOGEN" farm near LYNGDAL, where KITTEL, C.K.'s younger brother had spent his life. KITTEL, born in 1874, was 14 years younger than C.K.. He had 13 children and he died in 1963 at the age of 89. Richard and Scott visited four of the children of KITTEL GROTERUD. 1) ANDERS, who resided on the MOGEN farm; 2) KITTEL GROTERUD, a bachelor and the eldest, who lived with ANDERS; 3) MARIE (KNUT) RUGLAND; 4) SIGNE (ALBERT) NYDAL. The RUGLAND's live in Lampeland and the NYDAL's live in Sande. SIGNE'S daughter, OYSTEIN LINTEIGEN, and her husband took RICHARD and SCOTT to the GRONBO place, the home of Grandma MOGEN, BERIT.

His untimely death as a result of a car-train collision left many friends and relatives to morn his loss.
