The goal of the Mollers Y-DNA project is to identify branches of the Mollers surname, and identify all Mollers descendants originating from the Büllingen Kreis municipality of Belgium.
As of December 2020, Y-DNA test results have been completed by descendants of Hubert H. Mollers (1835-1891), 1857 immigrant from Hünningen, Büllingen Kreis, Belgium.
The Mollers Y-DNA Haplogroup is E-M35. E-M35 populations are believe to have first appeared in East Africa 22,400 years ago. Distant matches indicate the ancient origins of the Mollers surname are due to migration out of North Africa. One distant match to one of the test takers identifies their "Earliest Known Ancestor" as from the the Berber "Nafousa Tribe ✔Yefren", located in a mountian range in Libya, North Africa.
Additional US descendants with the Mollers surname are encouraged to join the Y-DNA surname study to determine if there is a distant Mollers "MRCA" (most recent common ancestor).
To participate in the Mollers Y-DNA surname study, testing should be done at familytreedna.com and by joining the "Weisel" Group Project, the group project with Mollers test results.
